Description
DESCRIPTION
Elena mittens were designed to match the hood of the same name. They feature the same finishes and details, and the pattern offers several options:
- fingerless mitts with two possible finishes (ribbed edge or folded edge),
- mittens (covering all fingerings together with a separate section for the thumb)
- and finally, fingerless mitts that can be converted into mittens or vice versa!
All three models are knitted in-the-round, from the wrist up to the fingers, allowing you to adjust the length, with a gusset to form the thumb. If you are a beginner, I recommend starting with simple fingerless mitts with 1/1 rib finish.
SKILLS LEVEL
From beginner to intermediate, according to the version you will choose.

If you use mini circular needles, you’ll still need regular circular needles to knit the thumb and the tip of the mitten using the magic loop method (or double-pointed needles).
Notions: 3 stitch markers, 1 spare cable or a piece of leftover yarn, 50cm [20’’] of contrasting colour fingering or DK weight yarn, a tapestry needle, scissors.
GAUGE
Knitted flat, with one strand of each yarn held together on 4.5mm [7US] needles in stockinette stitch (measured after blocking)
22 sts x 28 rws = 10 x 10 cm = 4 x 4’’
