Description
MAEVA is a fully adjustable scarf in width, length, choice of yarn and needle size. It is designed to suit all tastes and desires. It is constructed in an extremely simple way so that it can be knitted by beginners as well as experts: a set of increases and decreases for the symmetrical triangular ends, a slipped central stitch, a border in garter stitch and lines in reverse stockinette to give rhythm to your knitting and character to your work. Maeva will keep a baby’s as well as a grown-up’s neck warm, regardless of age, sex, or size
SKILLS LEVEL: Beginner
SIZES
This pattern gives you a free choice of dimensions for your scarf. However, I will give you, as an example, the instructions to make a scarf of 11cm x 90cm or 4.25in x 35.5 in (XS Maeva for a 12 month old baby) and 51cm x 215cm or 20in x 84.5in (XL Maeva for a tall adult).
MATERIALS
Important notice : The choice of wool and needle size is free for this project. However, I have listed below the materials I used to make my prototypes.
Yarn : Tendresse by La Droguerie
¨ Colourway « Câlin »
¨ 41 % baby alpaca, 30% silk, 20% wool and 9% polyamide
¨ 50gr =190m or 1.75oz = 208yds
¨ Meterage / Yardage required for my prototypes (swatch excluded) :
o XS Maeva : 105m or 115yds (28 gr or 1oz of Tendresse)
o XL Maeva : 1025m or 1120yds (270 gr or 9.5oz of Tendresse)
Needles : circular 4.5mm or 7US (80 cm or 30in)
Notions: 2 closed ring stitch markers, 1 clasp stitch marker, tapestry needle, scissors.
GAUGE
This pattern does not require a precise gauge as Maeva can be made with any yarn and the appropriate needles.
For reference, my sample is knitted flat with one strand of Tendresse yarn on 4.5mm or 7US needles: 18 stitches x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm = 3.93in x 3.93in
